What's New

Hangul Rain

We ship constantly. Here's the whole story — what we built, and why.

Updated July 2026 · a tiny team, building in the open

Everything we've built ☔

Newest first. Tap any drop to open it up — what it does, why it exists, and a word for you.

⚙️
Settings & fair play NEW
A game people trust is a game that's fair to them.

A game people trust is a game that's fair to them — and quiet when they want quiet.

Sound & pronunciation toggles

Turn sound on or off, and toggle spoken pronunciation on each hit. Turn sound off and dictation blocks stop appearing — no audio, no unfair listening challenge.

Why You might be playing on the bus with no earbuds. We won't drop a listening block on you when you literally can't hear it.

Smarter wrong-answer detection

Type the wrong word all the way and you get a gentle buzz — no life lost, the block stays, keep trying. It waits until you've actually finished a different word (down to the last vowel and batchim) before deciding.

Why You told us it buzzed too early — flagging 몰ㄹ as wrong before you could reach 몰랑. Now it lets you finish the thought. Take your time.

Fair falling speed

How fast a word falls now depends on time, not on how tall your window is. A short window falls proportionally slower, and a minimum-height gate stops a tiny window from being used to cheat.

Why Difficulty should be the same for everyone, whatever screen you're on.

Anti-abuse pause

Pause is a 3·2·1 resume — bonuses expire and fever freezes while you're away.

Why Freezing the board mid-fever isn't a strategy we want to reward — but you should still be able to answer the door.

⌨️
Typing that feels right
The keyboard is where you live in this game.

The keyboard is where you live in this game. It should feel like home.

Always-on keyboard (PC)

On desktop the keyboard is always visible and lights up as you type, in sync with your physical keys.

Why You shouldn't have to guess whether the game heard your keystroke.

Training mode

A practice mode where hints are available, so you can learn the ropes without the pressure of a live run.

Why Everyone deserves a place to warm up.

A keyboard that fits

Unified key widths and a long, clear clear key; settings tucked beside the space bar where your thumbs already are.

Why Small things — but your hands notice.

Mouse-click guidance

On desktop, tapping words with the mouse is gently redirected back to the keyboard.

Why This is a typing game — clicking would rob you of the practice you came for.

🏆
Leaderboards & weekly leagues
Learning sticks better with someone to chase.

Learning sticks better when there's someone to chase.

Weekly leagues

Every week is a fresh league. Your best score that week places you on the board.

Why A clean slate every Monday means a bad week never buries you.

Tiers

Land in Gold Silver Bronze by where you finish.

Why A rank you can feel, not just a number.

Rankings

Top 100, plus your own rank wherever you sit.

Why You should always be able to find yourself.

Your name, on this device

Pick a handle the first time you submit; it's saved on this device.

Why No account walls just to see your name on a board.

🛍️
Shop & coins
Play, earn, make it yours.

Play, earn, make it yours.

Coins

Earn coins from your runs, with a daily bonus for showing up.

Why Progress you can spend feels better than progress that just sits there.

Unlock characters & backgrounds

Spend coins to dress up your pup and change the scenery.

Why Your game should look like yours. Go wild.

🐶
Meet your pup
You're not typing alone.

You're not typing alone. Someone's cheering for you.

It follows the word

Your pup slides left and right to track the word you're typing, with a little catch-up squish.

Why A companion that reacts makes every hit feel shared.

It only chases while you type

Idle? It waits with you, doing a soft "boing" squish in place.

Why An early version had it chasing words while you sat still — it looked anxious. Now it's calm until you are.

It cheers (and panics)

Big combos get a cheer dance; fast blocks get a little panic.

Why Because your wins deserve a reaction, and near-misses deserve a laugh.

🎁
Mystery power-ups
Sometimes a word is a gift. Sometimes it's mischief.

Sometimes a word is a gift. Sometimes it's mischief.

Power-ups

A mystery block can hand you a shield slow-mo +1 life 2× score or turn a word giant.

Why A jolt of luck keeps a long run exciting.

Hazards

Or it backfires: a speed-up downpour or a combo reset.

Why Risk makes the reward mean something. Fortune favors the bold. ☔

Special blocks
Words that don't all fall the same way.

We didn't want "type the word, repeat forever." So words grew personalities.

Bonus blocks 초성

A word drops showing only its initial consonants plus the English meaning. Guess it for a big score; miss it with zero penalty.

Why Reading a word from just its 초성 is a real Korean skill — it's how Koreans text. We made it pressure-free so you can experiment.

Speed blocks »

Every so often a word comes down fast. Missing one stings.

Why Once you get good, normal speed gets comfy. These keep your fingers honest.

Comprehension blocks

Blocks that make you read the meaning, not just the letters.

Why Typing is the doorway; understanding is the point.

First-time tutorials

The first time a new block type appears, the game pauses and shows you the real block and what it does.

Why Nobody should lose a life to something they've never seen. Fair's fair. ☔

Gentle introductions

New block types don't all show up at once; they unlock as you play, one at a time.

Why Dropping seven block types on a first-timer is cruel. Meet them like friends. You've got this.

📚
Save, review & share your words
The words you shoot down are the whole point.

The words you shoot down are the whole reason you're here. We keep them.

Save tray

Shoot a word down and it lands in a save tray for a few seconds — grab it with number keys 1–5, or star it into your wordbook.

Why The word you just beat is the word you're about to learn.

Review-focused results

The end screen is built around the words you saved, plus three clean stat cards.

Why A score is a moment; the words are what you take with you.

Real pronunciation

Hear natural Korean pronunciation for your saved words, and jump to hearing them in real videos.

Why Reading a word and hearing it are two different memories. We want you to have both.

Shareable result cards

Turn a run into a clean, shareable image card.

Why Learning out loud — and a little bragging — is good for you.

💾
Your progress, kept honestly
The plain truth about your data — no surprises.

We'd rather tell you the plain truth about your data than surprise you later.

Guest vs saved

Play as a guest and your progress lives for the session; save your streak and it's kept for good.

Why No dark patterns. You always know which one you're in.

We removed the "3-day evaporation"

An earlier version quietly expired progress after three days. We killed it. Now it's simple: guest = this session, saved = forever.

Why A rule you can't predict isn't a rule, it's a trap. Gone.

"Saved on this device"

When you save, we say exactly that — on this device — not "your account."

Why We won't imply your words follow you to another phone when they don't. Straight talk.

🎨
A living start screen
The first thing you see should feel alive.

The first thing you see should already feel alive.

Live demo rain

Real words fall in the background of the start screen while you decide to play.

Why A still menu says "app." Falling rain says "come play."

Modes & coach marks

Clear game modes with sublabels, and gentle coach marks for first-timers.

Why You should never wonder "wait, what do I do here?"

🔥
Combos & Fever
Momentum should feel like momentum.

Momentum should feel like momentum.

Combo multiplier

Chain hits without a miss and your multiplier climbs.

Why A streak you can see is a streak worth protecting.

Fever mode

Push far enough and the whole board catches fire.

Why Every good run deserves a moment where it all goes gloriously fast.

Hangul Rain is born
Where it all started.

Where it started.

The core game

Korean slang words rain down; type each one before it hits the ground.

Why Reading and typing real, living K-slang beats memorizing a textbook list.

No Korean keyboard setup

Type on your normal keyboard — the game builds the Hangul for you.

Why Setting up a Korean IME is exactly the friction that makes people quit on day one. We removed it.
